Description of role

The Assistant Operations Manager reports directly to the Operations Manager, assisting with managing all aspects of the business. They will assist in overseeing all elements of the business including office, front of house and skipper operations throughout the year. The role requires excellent leadership and organisational skills.

Due to the pivotal nature of the role, an opportunity for annual bonuses is available as an incentive for longevity (criteria for this is determined by the Business Director).

This role is designed for someone who is looking to take the next step in hospitality and business management, assisting in the day-to-day running of the business alongside running functions on the Sabrina Boat itself, with scope for progression and growth. A typical working week will be spent between office-based work and front of house operations.


Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Booking management
  • Running functions on the Sabrina Boat
  • Liaising with FoH, Office and Skipper teams, including weekly operations meetings
  • Finance management, including invoicing and cash up reconciliation
  • Recruitment process
  • Staff training and management
  • Product management, including but not limited to pricing, profit margins, till programming
  • Marketing, including management of social media and mailshots
  • Event planning
  • First aid/safety management
  • Will be skipper trained with boatmaster licence including first aid and fire safety training (provided by the business)


Job Particulars


As the role requires the individual to be highly competent with many aspects of the business, a unique training plan is in place to ensure the needs of the role can be met. This will be explained in further detail during the recruitment process.

Expected Hours

45-50 hours per week. Time and hours of work are set to fit the needs of the business on a week-to-week basis. The business operates between the hours of 8:30am-1am.

Weekends and evenings are expected when required, working typically 5 out of 7 days.

Holidays are to be taken out of season between November & February.


£23,000 per year, with staff benefits including gym membership.

Potential for annual bonus.


Business Description

Sabrina is a triple deck, modern passenger boat capable of carrying 60 passengers in comfort with retractable roof and
sides on the top deck. An independent business, with local management on board, the focus is to provide a first class
service to both day and evening passengers. We operate six cruises a day, 7 days a week between 1st March to 31st
October, as well as our daily cruises we also operate evening private events and themed events. We also have two
smaller boats the Picnic Boat and the Pirate Boat which are available for private hire of up to 10 guests.
