Funeral Receptions, Wakes & Ashes Scattering

Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences we face in our lives, and we understand the need to celebrate their lives in a respectful, dignified, and sensitive way. During our ashes scattering ceremonies, our main focus is to make the whole experience as comfortable as possible for all on board, from small intimate ceremonies to parties of up to 45. We are also happy to welcome all religious groups for ceremonies, including Ganesh Chaturthi and other festivals.

Onboard the Sabrina we welcome people of all faiths, backgrounds, and beliefs. Our aim is to create a calm and sensitive environment for your ceremony, whether it be religious, humanist or a celebration of life. Priests, Ministers, religious officiants, or celebrants are more than welcome on board, and guests are invited to use our sound system to play hymns, songs or prayers and table service is available for refreshments.

During your private charter, our staff will take a step back to allow you to perform the ceremony but will be always on hand if needed. Floral tributes, biodegradable urns and divas are permitted, however, we ask that all metal and plastic be removed to prevent any damage to the ecosystem – for the same reason, plastic bags and urns, as well as cardboard scattering tubes cannot be placed in the water, however, we can take care of these for you.

Where Are We

We are based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire on the ancient River Severn, the longest river in the United Kingdom. The Severn, named Afon Hafren in Welsh, begins at an elevation of 2,000ft on the slopes of Plynlimon Fawr near the town of Llandiloes, before following a semi-circular course southward, flowing through Powys and into Shropshire. As this ancient river flows through the country, it is joined by the River Stour at Stourbridge, the River Teme near Worcester, and the Warwickshire River Avon at Tewksbury, before making its way to the Bristol Channel. Once the Severn reaches the Bristol Channel, it is met by the Bristol River Avon and the River Wye as it flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
